Art Classes for Young Adults
Fridays 14h00 to 16h00
Cost: R70 per month (including materials)
The Tatham Art Gallery offers art classes for the youth of Pietermaritzburg and surrounding areas. Friday afternoon art classes are held during school terms, and classes are based on permanent and temporary exhibitions which helps these emerging artists to extend their basic knowledge of the history and theory of art, and promotes the use of different art media.
Participants are encouraged to attend other Gallery programmes such as the Artists’ Forum, art workshops and artist-in-residence programmes.
Artists’ Forum
Lecture Theatre
First and last at Wednesday of each month
14h30 to 15h30
The Artists’ Forum meets place on the first and last Wednesday of each month to discuss art works that participants are currently creating, except in April when the forum will meet on the first and third Wednesday of the month.
Together with an art educator they exchange their ideas and approaches to art mediums and techniques, and often resolve problems through collaborative discussion.
Most participants consider this forum a constructive criticism platform, where they receive feedback in a non-threatening environment.
